Event details

This Nottingham Law School moot competition is held annually to celebrate the contribution of one of our alumni who sadly died prematurely at the beginning of what would have been an exciting career at the bar.  It is generously sponsored by Monckton Chambers, where Ian had his tenancy.

As a student, Ian had been a keen mooter, and he had always taken an interest in the development of young people. This annual undergraduate mooting competition takes place in his memory.

This year the moot will be judged by Andrew Macnab. Andrew practises mainly in the areas of VAT, duties and indirect taxation, and also in the areas of competition law, utilities regulation and general civil/commercial litigation. He also has wide experience in EU law, professional negligence and public law.

He has been Junior Counsel to the Crown (A Panel) since March 2010.

During his years in practice, he has been recommended as a leading junior by Legal 500 in professional negligence and competition law. Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 currently rate him as a leading junior in VAT.
