NUSIC helps Nottingham musicians acquire knowledge, skills and contacts to get their music wherever they want it to go. For this panel music industry experts, such as Phil Taggart (BBC Radio 1) and Sophie K (Kerrang!) share their advice on how to get your music on the radio.

NUSIC Academy Workshop and Advice Fair - Radio

NUSIC helps Nottingham musicians acquire knowledge, skills and contacts to get their music wherever they want it to go. The theme for the March Q&A panel is ‘Radio’. Music industry experts will advise you on how to get your music on the radio.


– Phil Taggart – Host of BBC Radio 1’s ‘Chillest Show’ and ‘Hype Chart’.

– Sophie K – Kerrang! Breakfast radio host, plus Radio 1 Cover Presenter.

ADVICE FAIR – Like a freshers fair, loads of ‘musician helping’ organisations for you to meet and get advice from, eg. how they can help you. From Arts Council England to Musicians Union (full list below)

The Workshop will focus on advice on what you should, and shouldn’t do, to get your music on the radio.

Alongside this, before and after, we will also run the Nusic Advice Fair offering you the chance to get free informal one on one expert advice. Previous entities have included…

This is a FREE TICKETED event. Most of our Workshops sell out (in a free way) in advance so please register ASAP to make sure you get a place.

The nearest car park is just behind Metronome, on Brook Street. The sat nav postcode is: NG1 1EA (view on Google maps here), you’re looking out for the Nottingham Arena (Brook St) car park, open 24/7.

Travel Info:

The nearest tram stop is at the Lace Market, a 5 – 10 minute walk from the venue. Nottingham has Park & Ride car parks situated just outside the city, with a regular tram service running throughout the week. Go to to plan your journey.

For buses take your pick! Visit the Nottingham City Transport website to plan your route. Numerous services stop just outside the venue.

Nottingham Station is the nearest train station and a short taxi ride, or 20 – 25 minute walk, from Metronome. You’ll find plenty of taxis outside the station, or use your Uber app.
