As part of the School of Science and Technology SHAPE Research Centre Seminar Series, Professor Robert Dingwall, Nottingham Trent University presents: Why the Natural Sciences need the Social Sciences.
Abstract
This talk will look at collaborative working between natural and social scientists. Why is great science on its own not enough to benefit society? What happens when innovations escape into the wild? How does great science get to be produced - and can we do it better? The talk will draw on my own experiences - successful and unsuccessful - of collaboration, particularly in my current engagement with responses to the 2019-nCoV outbreak/epidemic/pandemic.
This seminar is hosted by Dr Christopher Matthews
