Due to unforeseen circumstances I have no access to an adequate internet connection and we have had to move our Online Open Dome event to mid April. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Comets are amazing but sometimes unpredictable visitors to our skies. They can cause a spectacle in the sky and are always offering surprises. Some of these object wizz through our solar system originating from far beyond, never to be seen again.
Oumuamua is an interstellar visitor that caused quite a stir in 2017. Not because it appeared like a comet with an impressive tail, but rather as an object of apparent bizarre geometry and possibly intriguing orbit. Several more such interstellar visitors are now known and some wild and interesting theories have been sparked about what Oumuamua might be: An Alien Space Ship? Dr Daniel Brown (NTU) will talk us through the discovery of these objects as well as facts and possible fiction around this case in his talk: Alien Visitors to our Solar System.
Given the current situation and NTU response, this event is now not taking place as a public NTU event. However, D Brown (NTU) will provide an online talk on this topic to everyone who is booked onto this event. We will email in the evening of 31 March a link to the material on YouTube to everyone who has booked. We will be happy to answer questions posted as response to the video over the following days. So do keep booking onto this event. If you haven't booked you might need to wait a while before you can see it.
