Join us for a dedicated week of activities and events in partnership with NTSU, University of Nottingham and UoNSU, Running from 2-8 March we’ll share advice and guidance for sustainable living and how to make positive change.

In partnership, Nottingham Trent University, NTSU, University of Nottingham and UoNSU are bringing together sustainability expertise from across Nottingham to run a week of events to raise awareness about environmental and social issues.
Both universities are leading the way in sustainability, ranked in the Top 5 of the most sustainable universities in the world 2019 [UI GreenMetric] and will play an important role in supporting Nottingham’s commitment to become the first carbon neutral city in the country by 2028.
We encourage staff and students to take part in this dedicated week of activities, where we’ll share advice and guidance for sustainable living. Highlights of the week include Getting to Net Zero Carbon: a workshop and group discussion exploring pathways toward carbon neutrality, photography competition and two group cycle rides around Nottingham.

Join us on social with ‘NTU’s Week of Climate Action’. A campaign full of handy hints, tips and guidance on reducing your environmental impact across the week and beyond. You can also help by sharing your green tips and ideas!
NTU Green Spaces - First Signs of Spring
Are you a budding photographer? Enter our NTU Green Spaces - First Signs of Spring photography competition by posting your images using #ntugreenspaces. In celebration of this spectacular season, we are looking for images from across our campuses that represent the winter-spring transition. Competition opens on Monday 3 March with the winning image announced on Friday 6 March.
NTU’s Newton and Arkwright building is home to a breeding pair of peregrine falcons. Guess the date of the first egg laid by these magnificent birds and complete the entry form. Submit your answers between 2 - 14 March. Watch live footage of them over the season as they lay eggs and rear their chicks.
Winners of the photography competition and 'Guess the date' will receive a sustainability themed prize and will be announced on our social channels.

Getting to Net Carbon Zero: exploring pathways to carbon neutrality through individual and collective action.
5.30 pm – 7 pm. Room 102, Goldsmith Teaching and Learning Building, NTU, City Campus
Join the carbon conversation! This panel/group discussion and workshop will explore pathways toward carbon neutrality through individual and collective action. You’ll learn more about the universities and Nottingham City Council plans for reducing carbon, followed by a workshop where you can share your views, discuss ways of reducing environmental impact, and identify opportunities for generating positive impact through collaboration.

Young Cosmopolitans and Environmental Politics lecture
1 pm to 2 pm. Room CH2702, Chaucer building, NTU, City Campus
Lecturer Professor Matt Henn shares his research that uses data from the European Social Survey to explore the connection between post-materialist and materialist values, and support for environmental issues and environmental activism across 28 democracies.
No need to book. Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Sustrans group cycle ride around Nottingham: Ride One
1 pm to 4 pm
In partnership with the universities, Sustrans, a UK walking and cycling charity, will be organising two cycle rides over the week. Bring your bike, or hire one from NTU and explore Nottingham on two wheels. Ride One starts on Wednesday afternoon from 1 pm to 4 pm.
