About the Conference (that isn’t a conference)

Do you work in an organisation or university using entrepreneurship to change the world?

Then the Startup Higher unconference could be just for you (and your friends).

The Startup Higher unconference takes places over 2 days, May 12th and 13th. It brings together entrepreneurship educators, incubator and accelerator managers and of course, start-ups. It is a space for all those using entrepreneurship for good their associated teams and partners to help share and reshape their practice.

The unconference is brought to you by Startup Higher, a start-up itself, built by university entrepreneurship specialists who love what they do and wanted to build an event which really shows off entrepreneurship education... with a little bit of a difference.

We build all of our events with three core values:

  • Community - we want to help you and we are great listeners
  • Learn learn learn - we love learning and we want to share that love
  • Entertainment - we like to have fun and we always make sure our community does too

We are supported by our partners at Capital Enterprise, Crisis Venture Studio, London South Bank University, Loughborough University London, The Network for Coaching and Mentoring Entrepreneurs, Nottingham Trent University Dryden Centre for Entrepreneurship and the University of Westminster.

What is an Unconference?

It's not a conference. Well, not really.

It's an event built by you. Sharing the stuff that matters and helping those that want to know more!

An unconference is a participant-driven meeting. The main difference between an unconference and a conference is that the agenda for the unconference is set by all those attending through the first session. Everyone attending is a contributor, potential presenter and collaborator. The organisers will facilitate the session to set the agenda and help to get conversations that matter going.

We expect to discuss and find solutions to challenges such as:

  • How do we measure success?
  • How do we ensure we take action to support more women, founders of colour and those with disabilities within our programmes?
  • How do we deliver mentoring programmes with impact?
  • How do we build better businesses that solve some of the worlds biggest problems?

An unconference focuses on the best parts that other events fail to deliver on - meeting one another and having a good old convo about the interesting bits and bobs.

"But why" - said everyone

Why not?.. we said

We love what we do and wanted to showcase that passion and the people we work with. Working alongside start-ups and new ideas inspired us to create the Startup Higher unconference. which is dedicated to sharing that enthusiasm and knowledge in a start-up kind of way.

We deliver events which are entrepreneurial by nature and all of our speakers are carefully selected to get you thinking and help you do, or even start, something new.

Who is it for?

  • Entrepreneurship and enterprise educators
  • Incubator and accelerator teams
  • Startups and Founders

Why attend?

  • Learn from the best and be inspired
  • Share problems and find solutions
  • Make meaningful connections
