What is Service Design?
Service Design is the craft of tying together human, digital, and physical interactions over time to create seamless user experiences. It's also one of the fastest growing and in demand design disciplines.
What's the this meet-up about?
In this session, we'll be exploring how the UK Government Service Standard is being used to help make its services simpler, clearer, and faster for everyone.
We'll be joined by the amazing Jaskiran Kang (Head of Service Design at TPX impact) and the award winning Sophie Smithwell who'll both be sharing their Service Design journeys, practical experiences and top tips for working within the Service Standards.
You'll also have an opportunity to review your current work against the service standards with input from fellow service designers, helping you reflect on how your current practice could be even better.
Who should come along?
You could be a seasoned Service Designer practitioner, a curious career pivoter looking for a way in, or you could just be looking for more meaningful, satisfying and creative work.
Anything else?
There'll be plenty of time for drinks, nibbles, and conversations!

5.30 pm - 7.30 pmProf Karen Slade is a forensic psychologist with over 30 years’ experience across the criminal justice system, including prison, probation and police services whilst working at NTU for over a decade. In this talk, we will explore how her encounters within prisons and probation services influenced her dedication to developing transformative measures aimed at mitigating suicide and self-harm amongst individuals engaged with the Criminal Justice System. She will take you on a journey through her practical experience and research in suicide prevention and dual harm, showcasing how to create meaningful transformation.
