Sports Volunteering makes a difference!

Volunteering is a great way of not only helping the local community, but also helping yourself. In the current job market standing out from the crowd is essential and sports volunteering could do this for you.

Sports volunteering makes a difference
NTU students have been working hard - voluntarily - coaching in local schools

If you enjoy sports or would simply like to give something back to NTU and the local community then there are lots of sports volunteering opportunities available for you to get involved in, including:

  • coaching young people
  • working with local sports clubs such as Nottingham Forest Football Club and Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club
  • event management roles at national and international events in Nottinghamshire
  • sports photography and journalism
  • and, much more!

Highlights of sports volunteering in term one

As part of the new Community Sports Coaching programme at NTU 29 students have been working hard coaching in local schools – and all voluntarily.

Between the volunteers over 150 coaching hours have been delivered in the local community across a range of sports from Lacrosse to Netball. A particular success came from NTU Dodgeball – who developed an after school club of over 40 pupils at Hadden Park High, culminating in the school winning a regional School Sport Dodgeball tournament.

Also, NTU Lacrosse coached in two different schools encouraging over 80 pupils to try a new sport.

We’d like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers for their hard work and keep a look out for more updates as the programme extends into even more schools, and covering more sports in Term Two.

If you would like to get involved in any type of sports volunteering we are always on the lookout for enthusiastic new recruits (no experience necessary) – please email us for more information.

And, to find more about what sports volunteering can offer you, please come along to our volunteers welcome event:
Thursday 16 January 2014 (4 – 6 pm) at The Point – Clifton campus Students’ Union.

(Free refreshments will be provided and you will be entered into a prize draw to win free kukri kit).
