EcoChamps - What You've Been Up To

We've been asking NTU EcoChamps how you have been getting on with your Green Impact challenges and what you have been up to in order to get people involved in reducing the carbon footprint of your department and NTU.

As we creep into Spring we have been asking the NTU EcoChamps what's been happening in different departments to help keep spirits up throughout winter.

In the grey lead up to the Christmas holidays, there was a flurry of colour from the Business Improvement and Organisation Development team, who dressed for the weather in their winter Christmas jumpers. It certainly helped to keep the heating down and the Christmas sprits and awareness up. Well done everyone that took part!

Sports and Lifestyle got 2014 off to a great start - they completed the most Green Impact tasks within Green Impact Power Week and have been rewarded £50 RSPB vouchers. Sports and Fitness Facilities Manager, Claire Moore, said that this achievement was as a result of 'the team getting together and looking through the workbook. We divided the tasks between individuals and set to work. The help of the student Project Assistant really helped too'.

If you are interested in recruiting a student project assistant for next year or maybe if you are a student and want to become a student project assistant just get in touch with the Environment Team via the e-mail address link below.

If you head over to Dryden you'll see Spider Plant's thriving on the first floor with the Carbon Elephant money that was achieved last year. The team have been planting up clusters of Spider Plants to put around the office and have successfully achieved S014 in the Biodiversity and Community section of the Silver Green Impact criteria.  Having plants in the office is a way of removing pollutants from the air and making a generally healthier place to work!

So teams are well on their way to completing their workbooks for the 17 April deadline. Don't forget if you need any help getting on with the workbook, please just drop the environment team an e-mail and we will arrange a time to catch up and look at what can be done and where we can do it.

If we don't see you before then, we will see you around and about on the 24 April for the Green Impact audit - more details to come.
