The MA Textiles, Knit, and Fashion Design stand was awarded with 'Best Stand' at Part one of New Designers.

New Designers is the UK's most important exhibition for emerging design, full of innovation and fresh thinking. The show sees over 3,000 of the most talented, newly graduated designers from the UK's leading universities come together to exhibit in one venue. It takes place over two weeks, with each part focusing on a different set of design disciplines and featuring its own awards programme. These awards, which are presented in partnership with leading brands and organisations, recognise the design world's rising stars, offering winners and runners-up vital support as they embark on professional careers.

The NTU MA stand was awarded 'Best Stand' at Part one of New Designers 2014, and the students and tutors were presented with a trophy, framed certificate and champagne. In addition there was acknowledgement on the awards display throughout the event at the venue entrance, along with acknowledgment in the events awards press release.

The judges commented, "This was a professionally and beautifully presented stand with an outstanding collection of work. All individual designs are unique, yet work cohesively as a collection."

The stand featured work by more than 30 postgraduate students in Fashion, Textiles, Knitwear and Contemporary Crafts, and the concept, loosely based on A Midsummer's Night Dream was devised by the course leader, Katherine Townsend in collaboration with Richard Arm and Joy Buttress from the School of Art & Design.

Students exhibiting on the stand said, "We are delighted to have won this award. New Designers is an important external event and we are one of the few MA courses to be shown here; it is important for us to be seen in London to support that."

Dr Katherine Townsend, Principal Lecturer in Fashion, Knitwear and Textiles at Nottingham Trent University said, "Congratulations must go to this year's Masters students for creating such high quality work and to staff from the School who consistently support them to develop and showcase their practice creatively. Exhibiting in London and Nottingham alongside alumni provides these emerging designers with valuable experience and feedback, enhancing their confidence to approach the industry when they graduate."
