A fashion design alumna from Nottingham Trent University has been selected as one of just 11 of the most talented UK creative graduates this year to feature in a London showcase.

Rebecca Swann, whose luxurious knitwear collection first wowed judges at Graduate Fashion Week in June where she won the coveted knitwear prize, has been chosen to be part of Fashion Scout London's specially curated graduate showcase on Sunday 14 September.

Rebecca graduated from her BA(Hons) Fashion Knitwear Design and Knitted Textiles degree this summer and will be able to select three looks from her final collection to show in the event at Freemasons' Hall in Covent Garden. Her line-up features monochrome exaggerated knits using luxury yarns inspired by the theme guilty pleasures.

Fashion Scout, which has a reputation for launching the next generation of fashion talent, scoured more than 300 collections which they viewed during degree shows in February and June to find the best new graduates. It is the fourth year the event has been running and it will enable press, buyers and industry members attending London Fashion Week to meet the graduates and discover their creative vision first hand.

Organisers said this year's graduates were "innovative and promising, from the UK's leading universities".

Marjolijn Brussaard, Dean of the university's School of Art & Design, said: "Nottingham Trent University has a reputation for excellent individual graduate collections which stand out in design and depth of concept with students having worked through all technical stages themselves. This was demonstrated during the summer when our graduates impressed judges across the country with their design skills – winning a host of awards, including four at Graduate Fashion Week. This has been great for our students as these competitions are a way to get their work noticed and hopefully open up further opportunities once they graduate.

"That's why it’s fantastic to see that is what has happened for Rebecca who won the Stuart Peter’s Visionary Knitwear award at Graduate Fashion Week and has now been given the chance to show her work to a new audience. We wish Rebecca and all our graduates all the best for their careers going forward."
