In the first of our new feature on all activity that took place on a BUCS Wednesday, we wanted to give you an insight into the results and stories behind some of the fantastic achievements Nottingham Trent University teams had in their games this week.

Biggest result

This category can stand for the team that won by the greatest margin, or alternatively can mean the result that means the most in the context.
This week there are three worthy results;

  • Men's Rugby Union 5s, winning 74-10 at home against Anglia Ruskin (Cambridge) 2. The 5s are smashing their league this year, winning all their games and have a goal difference of +170
  • Women's Hockey 3s, winning 23-0 at home against Wolverhampton 1st. Playing a sport that counts one score as one point, this result is huge! How many football teams score 23 goals a game?
  • Men's Hockey 1st, winning 3-2 away to Birmingham 2s. The scoreline may look close, but the result is massive. Birmingham 2nd are going to be vying for the league title with NTU come March, and a positive result at this stage sets the boys in pink up to retain their league title. There are still many games to go, of course, but this is one major competitor's metaphorical scalp under their metaphorical belts.

Team performance

This category can be won by anyone – team, players, or sports clubs. This week, the best team performance can be rightfully claimed by Men's Rugby Union club.

All five men’s rugby union teams won their games, and at time of writing, all teams were top of their respective leagues. This is testament to great work put in by all the players and coaches over a long period of time, and we hope it continues long into the New Year!
