Our BA (Hons) Fashion Management students have recently enjoyed a four day study visit to fashion capital Paris.

The optional study trip was open to Year One students, and aimed to give them a taste of the Parisian market.

The itinerary included a visit to Texworld fabric fair where students had the chance to attend trend forums and a fashion show. They also took in a walking fashion tour of the city, conducted retail research and visited Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Of course, the students also found time to fit in some site seeing too, visiting some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

Student Chloe Andrews told us: "I would definitely recommend study trips like this to other students. We have had great fun while being in a fashion orientated city which is relevant to our course."

Senior Lecturer Felicity Walker commented: "Paris is one of the leading fashion capitals. Designers, buyers and other industry experts travel to Paris to see the catwalk shows, trade shows and shops. The students get to experience trends, sourcing and global retailing from an industry perspective. This enhances their learning on Fashion Management as it contextualises their studies and enriches their fashion industry awareness."

Student Jemma Walsh added: "Other than the itinerary suggested by the University it has been great to see the iconic sites such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and the Musée du Louvre. We have been given lots of independence to explore the city and shape the trip around our personal interests."
