On Saturday 28 February, the new addition to The Hive's Cobden Chambers terrace, 5 Dots, will open its doors to the public.

5 Dots is a vibrant new art collective looking to get art on to Nottingham's walls. Set up by recent NTU graduates Leigh Hancock (Sensorlei Jewellery) and Chris J. S. Smith, the collective space will be based in The Hive's unit 2B in Cobden Chambers (located on Pelham street, next to The Bodega).

Primarily the space will be used as a shop and studio, featuring work from both Leigh and Chris, as well as from a range of Nottingham artists. To keep the space active, work and exhibits will frequently change to ensure people keep coming back for a new experience.

One of the main aims of 5 Dots is to make art accessible for everyone. To ensure this goal is met, they will look to offer a variety of stock, in different styles and covering a broad range of prices. In doing this it is hoped that no Nottingham walls will be left art free.

As well as offering a range of products, 5 Dots will also play host to a variety of workshops and talks with the aim of engaging the Nottingham community with arts projects.

Leigh and Chris are also involved in introducing art to the disabled community. Notably, Leigh's Sensorlei venture creates bespoke sensory objects for the blind and visually impaired. She also volunteers at My Sight Nottinghamshire and Darlington Mind. 5 Dots will look to carry on with this work, again ensuring the arts is made accessible to all.

The launch event will be a great chance to visit Cobden Chambers, learn more about the project, get to know those running it and most importantly, get involved with Nottingham's creative community.

5 Dots will be open from 11 am on Saturday 28 February, with the launch event and drinks starting at 6 pm. Located at Cobden Chambers, Pelham Street, Nottingham, NG1 2ED. The event is free to attend.
