Alumna Jessica Wong (BA (Hons) Textile Design, 2013), has recently secured a new job as Assistant Accessories Designer at Paul Smith, London.

After returning from her one-year internship with ANN INC. in New York, an opportunity that came about through a competition that NTU students are involved with year-on-year, Jessica applied for the position within Paul Smith’s London office.

Embroidery specialist, Jessica, said: "It will include men’s and women’s accessories, ready to wear and mainline collections, so I think it’s going to be quite a varied role!"

Jessica recently came back to NTU alongside Talent Resource Director, Andie Whitfield, from international fashion retailer ANN INC., to encourage current students to take up the internship opportunity this year, and gave an interesting insight into her experience as an embroidery specialist working within the LOFT brand.

Jessica said: "Although I was placed within the woven tops and accessories department initially, I actually got to work with all the departments to create embellishments. It was a great opportunity to see different areas of design and identify my own strengths."

Course leader for Textile Design, Tina Downes said: "Jessica’s one-year internship with ANN INC. in New York obviously gave her a lot of the skills and experience she needed to make a great impression with Paul Smith at interview."
