Nottingham Trent University has been shortlisted in four categories in this year's Times Higher Education(THE) Leadership and Management Awards.

Nottingham Trent University has been shortlisted in four categories in this year's Times Higher Education(THE) Leadership and Management Awards.

The University is in the running for the Outstanding Finance Team, Outstanding Procurement Team, Outstanding Human Resources Team and, a new category for 2015, Digital Innovation of the Year.

The annual THE Leadership and Management Awards, which are widely known as the THELMAS, celebrate the work of university managers and administrators across the UK

Nottingham Trent University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edward Peck, said: "It is a wonderful achievement for our teams in these areas to be recognised for their hard work, enterprise and innovation.

"To be shortlisted in one category is a superb accomplishment so to be short-listed in four is tremendous.  We are now looking forward to the ceremony in June to discover the final outcome of the awards."

The University's human resources team has been recognised for its policy and approach to employer supported volunteering. Working with Schools, Colleges and Community Outreach colleagues, the team supports and encourages staff to engage in community-based activities such as volunteering and being a charity trustee through the provision of paid time off during working hours.

The University's new Direct Admissions Portal has been created by the Information Systems Team for student applications made directly to the University. The portal supports different application routes and offers faster response times, a transparent decision-making audit, an applicant self-serve to submit supporting information and track application and the availability of real-time data to improve communications and service to applicants.

The University procurement team has been nominated for its implementation of the SCoRE strategic programme to deliver sustained value for money whilst focusing on four major strategic themes – sustainability, commercial effectiveness, research and employability. The team's successes include increasing student placement opportunities and delivering a third successive year of rising savings in 2014.

Finally, the University's finance team has worked in partnership with non-financial colleagues to ensure the University is in a strong financial position whilst its investment programme has ensured that students are at the heart of strategic planning. A £350m investment has been made into regenerating the University, which includes a £60 million student union facility and residence, whilst a £25m strategic investment fund for teaching and research has also been created.

The winners of the THE Leadership and Management Awards will be revealed on Thursday 18 June at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
