The Centre for Business and Insolvency Law is playing host 7 - 28 May 2015 to Dr Jenny Buchan, Associate Professor at the School of Taxation and Business Law at the University of New South Wales, Australia. Jenny is a specialist in franchising law and has written extensively in the field, particularly in the insolvency context. Before joining the University, Jenny worked as a commercial lawyer in private practice in New Zealand and Australia as well as a compliance consultant. Jenny is currently also Deputy Chair of the UNSW Human Research Ethics Committee and a Member of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's Franchising Consultative Committee.

While on this visit to the Centre, Jenny will be working on two research projects, the first with Professor Paul Omar on the disclaimer provision in insolvency law and the second on the interconnectedness of franchise law and employment law with Jenny Gant, a doctoral researcher within the Law School. Jenny will also be meeting with other members of the Centre for discussions on insolvency law research and teaching as well as participating in the Law School Research Day offering an Australian perspective on the Research Excellence Framework (REF), a model that is also used in that country.
