NTU Library Nepal earthquake fundraiser

Boots Library staff raised funds for the Nepal earthquake appeal.

On 25 April, Nepal was struck by an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude. Over 7,000 people have died and millions of others need urgent help.

Several library staff organised by Glen Daft, decided to raise as much money as they could for the Nepal Earthquake Appeal.

With the approval of the NTU Library Management Team, a cake sale was organised which took place at short notice on Friday 1 May. A stall for this was hurriedly built by Chris Morris and Chris Rice on Thursday evening and then populated by lots of cakes and other produce, baked or donated by library colleagues.

A rota was established for colleagues who volunteered to staff the stall. The sale started at 9.30 am on Friday morning in the Boots Library reception area and was busy throughout the day selling items to library staff, other University staff and library customers. We were all overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of all concerned.

By the end of the day the stall had raised £432.50. This was paid into the DEC Nepal Earthquake Appeal account on Saturday morning. If you would like to donate to help the DEC continue with their relief efforts then please visit their website.
