Post Tour Chamber Choir ConcertOn Thursday 16 April, the Chamber Choir had the opportunity to re-live their time in Budapest in a Post Tour Concert at Newton's Old Chemistry Theatre. The Choir always enjoy performing in the beautiful room with spectacular acoustics and it seemed the audience did too.
Lunch time concertsNTU Music have hosted two lunch time concerts this term. On 6 May it was Joel Moore who presented an impressive 30-minute recital to an enthusiastic audience at Newton's Old Chemistry Theatre on his Euphonium. Joel is currently a third year Accounting and Finance student working within the NTU Finance department on his placement year.
Our second recital was performed by final year vocalists Hannah Locke and Lauren Garrill on 20 May. Both students are currently working towards their Musical Theatre diplomas taking place this summer, the vocal recital was a fantastic opportunity for them to perform their programmes to an audience in a professional manner. We wish Hannah and Lauren the best of luck in their diploma exams.
Keep an eye on our website, Twitter and Facebook pages for up and coming lunch time recitals throughout the next academic year.
Jazz EveningBy popular demand another Jazz evening was held on Tuesday 12 May at the Students' Union Level bar, featuring our resident Jazz Quartet PEGASUS and the NTU Jazz Ensemble. The venue was once again completely transformed in to a cabaret-styled evening with round tables and chairs spread across the room, ready for a relaxed and enjoyable evening of good quality Jazz music. Three soloists from the Chamber Choir took to the stage during the Jazz ensemble's set to sing with them, students Mollie Kingsley, Jessica Armstrong and Bethan Giddings shone under the stage spotlight as they entertained the audience with their performance.

The Students Union Level bar was full to the brim with enthusiastic family, friends, NTU staff and other loyal supporters of NTU Music on the summers evening, all eagerly awaiting to be entertained by our fantastic ensembles for a final time this academic year.
Chamber Choir Summer ConcertOn Saturday 30 May the Chamber Choir took a trip to Sheffield, to perform a Summer Concert at the Upper Chapel, a lovely chapel located in the heart of Sheffield's busy city centre.
The evening was a fantastic opportunity for the Chamber Choir to perform their eclectic and impressive repertoire built and developed throughout the academic year one final time, before breaking up for summer. The evening included a refreshing mixed programme from modern composers such as Karl Jenkins, John Rutter and Eric Whitacre, as well as popular music by Elton John, the Bee Gees and Michael Jackson.
End of term Piano PartyOn Wednesday 3 of June our fantastic Piano tutor and accompanist Tom Bates hosted an end of year piano party for his students. It was a lovely afternoon event held at the Music Centre's ensemble room, where Tom provided his students with the opportunity to perform some of the pieces they had been working on with him throughout the year. The event had a lovely laid back and relaxing atmosphere, as his students sat around the piano casually munching away from a delicious spread of bread and cheese provided by Tom while listening to each other play some music. It was a great event and fantastic to hear the variety of piano music Tom teaches.
