NTU retains Green Flag Award for best green spaces

Clifton and Brackenhurst campuses have been awarded a Green Flag Award

NTU's Clifton and Brackenhurst campuses have once again been awarded a Green Flag Award for 2014/15, placing them amongst the top 20 green university campuses in the UK.

The award, handed out by leading environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country.

The judges were particularly impressed by all of the outdoor sports facilities at Clifton, with fantastic new all-weather pitches and one of the best cricket pitches in the region. They also loved the nature trail and student allotment that enable students, staff and the public alike to enjoy the beautiful outdoor environment. Along with the new Heart of Campus development, Clifton is quickly becoming one of the finest campuses in the country.

Meanwhile, the Brackenhurst campus was praised by judges for its superb combination of wildlife, historic buildings, formal gardens and the onsite working farm, where NTU's agricultural research blends with public engagement. Particular merit was reserved for the Flower Pod, a social enterprise hosted on the campus.

The campuses are two of 1,582 parks and green spaces that received the prestigious award on the 23 July this year. Fewer than 20 other universities received the award around the UK.
