Alumnae Daisy Rees found herself on the other side of the table when final year BSc (Hons) Real Estate students came into NTU to work on a live project with Sainsbury's.

After graduating BSc (Hons) Planning and Development in 2014, Daisy worked at Sainsbury's as an Acquisition Surveyor and played a part in the project where current students were tasked with finding a suitable location for a Sainsbury's convenience store within a given location in the East Midlands. The project involved a trip to the Sainsbury's support office in Coventry, where students were given first-hand information from the Property Team.

The brief asked students to look specifically at corporate real estate within the context of local authorities and the wider public sector. Students had to consider an array of different considerations, before providing a presentation to a panel of Sainsbury's surveyors, including Daisy.

"It was very strange to be back at NTU," Daisy said afterwards. "I had been there as a student just six months before coming back to review the students' presentations. My colleagues and I were thoroughly impressed with the standard of presentations. The students seemed to really be engaged with the project and provided a very professional, high standard of work."

"I completed a work placement in the Acquisitions Team for McDonalds at the head office in London. During my time there I was given the  opportunity to travel around the UK visiting potential new sites. The skills and experience I gained during this time helped me gain my role as an Acquisitions Surveyor at Sainsbury's following graduation."

Daisy is now working at Hallam Land Management as a Development Surveyor, where she is undertaking a number of projects through the South East in different stages of developments.
