New opportunities at NTU Music

This year we are very excited to introduce some exciting new projects at NTU Music.

This year we are very excited to introduce some exciting new projects to NTU Music.

NTU Drumline

The NTU Drumline is a new ensemble, playing exciting charts and pieces for marching snare drums and bass drums. Based around the playing styles of some of the world's leading drumlines, including Top Secret, members will have the chance to develop their technical skills on the snare drum and build routines and pieces that are highly visual and creative.

Our aim is to showcase the Drumline at University events and where possible, with other university groups. Being a member of the NTU Drumline will also develop your teamwork and musical skills.

Trent Rocks

This year we are developing a band development programme. If you play an instrument and would like to play in a band with other like-minded people, this scheme is for you.

Our programme offers students the platform and facilities to meet other instrumentalists to create a band, with guidance from our experienced band development leader, Tom Bates.

NTU Big Band

Building on the success of last year's jazz evenings with the Pegasus Jazz Quartet and the NTU Jazz ensemble, we are excited to be launching our first NTU Big Band. The Big Band will meet on a weekly basis and be led by renowned jazz musician and tutor, Casey Greene.

The band will perform a vast repertoire, including jazz, Latin, swing and funk, as well as other repertoire depending on the event. The Big Band is open to all instruments and is accessible to both beginners and advanced players – no audition is needed.

Contact NTU Music for further information on how to get involved with our new ensembles. Find us on Facebook, follow us Twitter and visit our events pages for all the latest news about upcoming performances.
