A national entrepreneurship award has been won by The Hive at Nottingham Trent University. The Hive – the University's centre for entrepreneurship and enterprise – scooped the Award for Entrepreneurship at the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) Awards for Excellence.

It is the third award won by The Hive this year.

The AGCAS awards, presented at their annual conference, aim to encourage, reward and share good practice amongst HE careers and employability practitioners, and their partner organisations.

The entrepreneurship award recognises the provision of enterprise and entrepreneurship education, including engaging students with business start-ups, and improving the entrepreneurial development of students or graduates.

Judges were looking for evidence of effectiveness and impact, positive feedback from beneficiaries and stakeholders, and evidence of creativity and an innovative approach.

“We have now won three awards this year, but this is the first ‘team’ award, recognising the contribution of everyone at The Hive in providing effective support for both students and graduates,” said The Hive’s Business Adviser Phil Clarke.

In May, Phil Clarke was presented with the Enactus UK University Adviser of the Year award (South) and the following month The Hive’s Enterprise Adviser, Sean Macaskill, won the UnLtd / HEFCE Social Entrepreneurship Champion of the Year Award.

The AGCAS judges said: "The sheer scale of activity at Nottingham Trent University was really impressive, along with some bold and creative approaches to embedding really practical entrepreneurial learning into a diverse array of subjects.

"The grandeur of the vision and the degree to which it is already being achieved really stand out here."

The AGCAS annual conference was held at the University of Warwick from September 1-3.
