Nottingham Trent University is holding a free event aimed at inspiring fully-sustainable product design and architecture, on Wednesday 21 October 2015.

The Future of The Circular Economy will welcome world-renowned environmental thinker Professor Dr Michael Braungart, who will deliver a keynote speech at the event.

Professor Braungart's vision is of all products and processes eliminating waste. For decades he has pioneered the Cradle to Cradle design concept. He co-authored (with William McDonough) the bestselling book Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things. Published in 2002, it is widely acknowledged as one of the most important environmental manifestos of our time.

The Cradle to Cradle concept embraces a world where production techniques that are not just efficient but are essentially waste free - designed so that they are useful rather than harmful to the environment.

Also speaking will be Sophie Thomas from The Royal Society for The Encouragements of Arts (RSA) who will discuss their recent research and collaboration with Fab Lab London.

Speakers from Nottingham Trent University include Professor Tim Cooper, who will talk about the EU's Circular Economy package, and Naomi Braithwaite, who will discuss current research that has been exploring the potential for optimising product lifetimes within a circular economy.

Future Factory Project Manager Michelle Collard said: "We're thrilled to welcome Professor Braungart to the University. His concept has been absolutely inspirational to so many people around the world. Along with the other experts, this event should prove unmissable to anyone involved in product or process design."

Funded by D2N2, there is no charge to attend the event, but places must be booked in advance. Book your place.
