NBS Marketing Internship Opportunity Leads to Job Offer

Five Nottingham Business School MSc Marketing students have received job offers after taking part in a pilot In Company Project (ICP) module in May.

Five companies wish to employ Nottingham Business School students from the MSc Marketing who took part in a pilot In Company Project (ICP) module in May. So far, three students have secured permanent positions with the IDO, Confetti Media Group and TCP Chartered Accountants. The remaining two students have decided to decline the offer due to other plans.

The ICP Module was launched by Nottingham Business School as a pilot for MSc Marketing students. Eleven students undertook 10 week internship placements in a range of companies across Nottinghamshire. These ranged from non-profit SME's such as the writer's studio, to global corporations such as Experian and 3M.

The idea for the module was developed from research on the Applied Consultancy Project (ACP) which showed that employers were very interested in the student's ACP experience, and they want to hear examples of their experiences in the work place. The module is a group based consultancy project where students work in groups on a live brief to deliver a consultancy report and presentation.

The In Company Project (ICP) follows the same principles and assessment schedule as the ACP but students work on the brief with the company rather than with a group from their cohort.

Given the success of the ICP, the module will be relaunched as a key part of the Nottingham Business School MSc portfolio and will be offered to students alongside the ACP and a dissertation option. The module has also been extended to a full one-year placement option.
