On Monday evening the NTU Choir sang alongside the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), in an epic telling of the Star Wars Saga through the iconic musical score of John Williams. The concert took place in Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall and with almost 2,000 Star Wars enthusiasts in the audience, it was an experience the NTU choir members will not be likely to forget.

The concert began with the familiar 20th Century Fox Fanfare and Star Wars Theme tune which set the electric atmosphere for the rest of the evening. The NTU Choir took part in two pieces which featured in the first half of the concert; the epic Duel of the Fates and the equally as dramatic Battle of the Heroes.

There was a real air of excitement when a message from John Williams was read out during the concert: “… I'm happy to send my fond regards to everyone gathered at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham, along with my best wishes for a joyous evening of music.”

Third year Broadcast and Journalism student, Jess Armstrong said: “Singing alongside the CBSO was an incredible experience. The quality of the music created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the concert hall and the enthusiastic response from the audience left me feeling thrilled to be able to be a part of an extremely special evening.”
