Trent Girls Can Week

Nottingham Trent University is celebrating active women with a whole host of events in collaboration with BUCS Girls Can week from 30 November to 6 December.

This Girl Can is a national campaign developed by Sport England and a wide range of partnership organisations. It's a celebration of active women up and down the country who are doing their thing no matter how well they do it, how they look or even how red their face gets.

As an active partner of the national campaign, NTU Sport is hoping to show all students and staff at NTU just how much there is to offer for females wanting to get active, whilst celebrating those that already are.

The week kicks off on Monday with a chance to try your hand (or foot?) against our Women's Footballers in a penalty shootout. They will be on Clifton campus from 1 pm until 3 pm with sport scholar and England goalkeeper, Carly Telford, who will be there to offer advice, tips and photos!

Over at City site NTU Sport is taking over the SU with a Trent Girls Can showcase. Here you can speak to our female clubs, have a go at sports such as trampolining or cheerleading and watch incredible performances and demonstrations from some of our biggest sports clubs at NTU.

Another event to get excited for is our UV Zumba class on Wednesday 2 December in the City Sports Hall. Wear you neon, get your glow sticks, paint your faces and bring your friends to dance your way to fitness in the dark. You will also get a free Trent Girls Can T-shirt just for taking part!

Friday 4 December sees the end of the week with two early morning fitness classes to awaken and revitalise you. As a special treat anyone who takes part in one of these classes will get a free breakfast smoothie courtesy of our Sports Science and Nutrition team.

The week culminates with a fantastic display of hard work and talent from NTU Dance. Their annual show at The Forum in Nottingham's Cornerhouse features performances in a range of disciplines with guest stars Funky Fresh collective, the University's Hip Hop society, making special appearance. The doors open from 7pm and tickets are available now to buy from Clifton and City sports centre receptions.

For those of you that are getting active throughout the week, we want to see you in action! Whether it's a casual gym session or a BUCS Wednesday we want to share it so Tweet, Instagram and Facebook us your photos. NTU's Picture of the week competition has a special Trent Girls Can focus this week so make sure you use the #NTUPOTW and #TrentGirlsCan hashtags to be in with the chance of winning some special prizes.

With events online and across multiple campuses there are lots of ways to get involved, so let's show the world that Trent Girls Can!
