Client Interviewing Competition Final

The results of the NLS Client Interviewing Competition are in. And the winners are...

The inaugural NLS Client Interviewing Competition concluded last week at the final on Wednesday 10 February 2016.

The winners of the competition, Laura Massey and Natasha Ward, were congratulated with a £25 Blackwell’s voucher presented by the Associate Dean of the Law School, Jenny Holloway. Runners-up, Philippa Blane and Sophie Jane Ablett also received a £10 WHSmith voucher.

In preparation for the final, the competitors had undertaken interviewing training and met with clients in the Legal Advice Centre over a five-week period. On the day of the final, the students paired up to interview “the client” Judith Ward, Head of the Undergraduate Portfolio, on a legal issue. The judges (Helen Taylor, Faye Deverell and Julie Higginbottom) were impressed by the professionalism and commitment shown by the finalists.

After the success of this year's Client Interviewing Competition, Helen Taylor, organiser of the event, intends to run it again in the next academic year. It is rumoured that next year Helen hopes to run it in conjunction with the National Client Interviewing Competition.
