Final year BA (Hons) Photography student Alex Pantling has had his photographs exclusively published in five national Sunday newspapers. Alex was the only photographer to capture the record-breaking goal by Jamie Vardy in the Leicester vs. Manchester United match.

The photographs appeared on the back of five major publications: The Times, The Sun, the Daily Express, the Mail on Sunday, and the Daily Mail.

Alex was able to have access to the game as a press photographer after being introduced to Leicester City's club photographer, Neil Plumb, through a contact he met whilst on a work placement at Getty Images (which he secured through his tutor at NTU). The club gave Alex permission to come along to all of Leicester City's home games, enabling him to develop a strong portfolio.

It was an unbelievable feeling. It made me realise that this was 100% what I wanted to do with my career.

Alex told us: "Since being granted access to Leicester City's home games I have had a lot of my work being used in papers and online, which really is a great feeling, keeping in mind this time last year I was working at Pizza Hut! Then, of course, the Manchester United game came and I happened to be in prime position for the record-breaking goal. There was an element of luck to it, but due to my position it was published in five papers which was an unbelievable feeling. It made me realise that this was 100% what I wanted to do with my career."

BA (Hons) Photography Course Leader Max Kandhola added: "Supervised by various tutors, Alex has demonstrated and mastered great technique, composition, and the ability to apply practice within a research context in his investigation. The professional approach is continually endorsed within the course so all our students have a sense of the photographic industry and how they need to apply their learning from within the course to the commercial world of photography."
