Graphic Design students showcase to industry at RSA Portfolio Review

Next month our Final Year Graphic Design students will have the opportunity to take their work to The Vaults at the RSA in London, for a dedicated portfolio review with industry.

It's a great opportunity for students as it provides a platform for them to gain confidence in their portfolios.

Next month our Final Year Graphic Design students will have the opportunity to take their work to The Vaults at the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) in London, for a dedicated portfolio review with industry.

This annual event gives our students the chance to talk through their work with professionals from some of the UK's leading creative companies. It's a great opportunity for them to gain confidence in resenting their ideas, and to network with a range of potential employers.

Students are able to elect to be part of the review, which is funded and organised by the Graphic Design course. Around 60 students choose to participate each year, with teaching staff sending out invitations to their industry contacts and NTU alumni. The aim of the event is to give students an opportunity to receive advice, but many studios and agencies to use it to scout new talent, and find people for internships and placements.

In recent years this event has been attended by, among others, Landor Associates, Ogilvy & Mather, JKR, Interbrand, Elmwood, Esquire, Ted Baker, AllofUs, CARTILS, FutureBrand, BrandOpus, bluemarlin Brand Design, Saffron Brand Consultants, and Dalziel & Pow.

Final Year tutor Andy Ellison told us: "It's a great opportunity for students as it provides a platform for them to gain confidence in their portfolios and how they talk about them to professional practitioners. The connections made and the contacts gathered prove to be extremely valuable in helping students with the transition from education into industry."

This event is just one showcase to industry that is available to Final Year students on the course. In June all students will exhibit their work as part of NTU's public Degree Show, and in July selected students will present their work at New Designers and D&AD's New Blood show, both in London.
