Major civil engineering companies recently visited NTU to award prizes for academic achievement to students across BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering, BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering and MSc Structural Engineering.

Joined by representatives from accrediting bodies such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), the awards ranged from Outstanding Contribution and Achievement in Civil Engineering to more specific achievements, such as the prize for Outstanding Project in Geotechnics. The students had the chance to speak to the industry contacts, discussing the latest developments in the field and receiving advice on their careers.

Mark Davison, academic team leader for Civil Engineering, said: "The awards are an excellent opportunity to commend students for their academic achievements during the year or in live projects. With the majority of the awards sponsored by companies in the civil engineering field, it also gives students the chance to meet key industry contacts and to develop their networking skills.

"The Civil Engineering team at NTU work hard to maintain close links with the members of the construction profession and these awards are just part of the collaborative work we do with industry to enhance our students' career opportunities."

Congratulations to all of the award winners.
