On Sunday 24 April, the NTU Chamber Choir joined renowned British tenor Russell Watson at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall for a fantastic evening of entertainment.

The Royal Concert Hall has become a familiar stage for the Chamber Choir, who performed Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the venue the previous week. Sunday’s concert, however, was an entirely new experience for the Chamber Choir, who performed in the second half with the multi-award winning classical and pop singer.

Russell Watson has sold more than seven million albums and is currently touring the United Kingdom. At each venue he has been accompanied by a local choir, as well as the touring professional musicians.

The NTU Chamber Choir was delighted to be asked to perform some of the tenor's best known hits, including; Funiculi Funicular, Barcelona, Phantom of the Opera and perhaps the highlight of the evening, You Raise Me Up.

First year student Ella Josey said, "It was an amazing experience to sing with someone as renowned as Russell Watson. Performing on stage with him and all the other musicians was so fun – especially as the reaction from the audience was so enthusiastic!"

It was a another fantastic opportunity for the NTU Chamber Choir who have had a very busy year!
