Partnership with PepsiCo goes from strength to strength

A research partnership between NTU and PepsiCo is continuing to go from strength to strength – with PepsiCo recently increasing their three-year sponsorship support to the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment.

Last year, the partnership with PepsiCo saw the multinational food and drink corporation provide the University with a new generation robotic arm – which has been used for research into product design and manufacturing.

Steven Brooks, European Director of Productivity at PepsiCo, said: "Our partnership with NTU will hopefully investigate a number of options for a more productive manufacturing solution.

"The next phase of research will be looking at integrating robotics with vision technology and sensory systems to support robotic technologies working in cooperation with operators in PepsiCo snacks."

The work being carried out in partnership with PepsiCo is being led for NTU by Professor Philip Breedon. This next phase of research is expected to last six months – and it is hoped that it will lead to a manufacturing prototype and possible research papers.
