The students are working hard towards their end of year show, which this year runs between Saturday, June 4 and Saturday, June 11

From Saturday 4 to Saturday 11 June 2016, more than 1,300 creative students will display their work in exhibitions, catwalk shows and performances across the NTU City site.

Following hugely successful shows over the past few years, our Year Two Secondary Design and Technology Education students are working hard towards their own end of year show, which will feature an exciting collection of work presented in an inspiring exhibition alongside those from other Art and Design courses. This showcase is to display students' final major practical project before they begin their professional year of school experience.

An example of some of our students’ inspirational projects include:

  • A sensory blanket, designed by Autumn Corry,  which helps insomniacs get to sleep and wake up gently
  • To encourage families with children with Downs Syndrome and other cognitive disabilities to share planning of family events, such as holidays, and to help the children understand timescales, Joanne Deane has developed beautiful and playable organisational products to support co-operative planning
  • Jessie Clark has designed clothing and home-based signs and other products to (almost) subliminally help people who are learning a new language
  • Harry Gowlett has developed a display of products, in conjunction with Nottingham Hackspace, which encourage creative designers in such organisations, and in schools, to show off their work in progress and to stimulate creativity in those places

Previous years’ shows have received excellent comments.

Aaron Sturman, Product Developer – Kitronik Ltd.

"I was really impressed by the standard of work presented there; all of the stands looked fantastic and had folders which documented (in a lot of detail!) the design process from the initial ideas through to the final designs."

The main exhibition is free to the public and will be open every day during the event period. School teachers are welcome to bring their Design and Technology students for a visit – please contact us to arrange.
