The Centre for Business and Insolvency Law recently played host to Professor Claudia Sandei of the University of Padua, Italy, who visited Nottingham for three weeks from Wednesday 7 September – Friday 23 September 2016.

At Padua, Claudia teaches Company Law and Insolvency Law. At the University, she is also responsible for the Internationalisation activities within the School of Law. Claudia collaborates closely with many academics in Spain, Germany, Austria, and now the United Kingdom, and is also a member of the Editorial Board of some of the most important law reviews in Italy. Her primary research interests are in corporate governance, capital markets, banking law, and corporate insolvency law. Besides an important number of articles in the company field (some of which have also been published in foreign law journals), she is the author of an important monograph on the implementation of the Shareholder Rights Directive and the use of technology in company annual general meetings.

While in Nottingham, Claudia presented a staff seminar on Monday 19 September 2016 on reforms to the commercial law environment in Italy, including two important areas of insolvency, company law, and banking law. She will also be working on an article about Regulatory Competition and Bank Failure and will be meeting with members of the Centre to discuss mutual research interests and possible collaborations.
