NTU Swimmers perform well at BUCS Short Course Swimming Championships

NTU swimmers, and two sports scholars competed at BUCS Short course swimming

The NTU Swim team went to BUCS short course (25m pool) last weekend, which took place in Sheffield. A total of 15 swimmers represented the pink of NTU, and it was their first competition of the year.

The club itself is actually the ‘Swim and Waterpolo’ club, with many students participating in both sports.

Leading the group of NTU Swimmers were two Sport Scholars, Georgie Pryor and Mollie Wright.

Pryor competed in both the Women’s Open 50m Butterfly and 50m backstroke, coming 6th and 9th in the respective finals. Her performance in the Butterfly Final was testament to her ability, as she was the fastest 18 year-old in the race, with those finishing ahead of her all senior athletes.

Our second scholar, Mollie Wright competed in the Women’s Open 400m and 800m Freestyle, placing 8th and 9th respectively.

The Scholars are supported by a strong cohort of swimmers as part of the NTU Swimming club, who also performed fantastically well at the weekend. The boys team notched some great times, with Kyle Freeman competing in the 50m backstroke and Freestyle, and George Jones also competing in the 50m Freestyle race.

It was a strong start to the season for the Swimming team, and this puts them in good stead for the BUCS Long Course Championships (50m) later in the season.

The club currently train at Nottingham High School and Harvey Hadden. If you would like to join, please email Tom Mews for more information.

Keep track of how the club get on throughout the year by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
