The School of Art & Design is pleased to announce it will be collaborating on a Poster Exhibition and Symposium with visiting scholar Professor Wi Seong Ho. Professor Wi Seong Ho is a Korean Visual Design expert from the highly prestigious Paekche Institute of the Arts and is also Vice President of the Korean Institute of Cultural Product and Design, (KICD).

The symposium will bring together final year undergraduate and postgraduate students from our BA (Hons) & MA Graphic Design courses, Staff from the School of Art & Design and KICD affiliated Lecturers and Professors from across South Korea. They will examine current, new and future trends in visual communication, advertising and graphic design.

To coincide with the visit approximately one hundred posters will be exhibited by KICD members, NTU staff and students, and will be displayed in the NTU Newton Arkwright building within the domed central area space.

The Korean Institute of Cultural Product and Design, (KICD) has been taking part in international exchange exhibitions for the last 25 years since its foundation. It has more than 500 members from 150 Universities in South Korea.

Professor Lei Cox, Head of Visual Communications at NTU commented that, “ We’re delighted to collaborate on the poster exhibition and symposium with so many members of the Korean Institute of Cultural Product Design from across the whole of South Korea. It is rare to get the opportunity to discuss the future trends in visual communication with so many academics and practitioners. We hope that this will lead to greater connectivity and a deeper understanding of contemporary design and to further advance both pedagogy and industrial practice.”

There will also be three awards given out by Professor Wi Seong Ho to students for the most creative poster.

The poster exhibition is open from Tuesday 31 January until Friday 3 February in the Newton Arkwright building central gallery space for all students, staff and visitors to the building.
