Albery all set for his senior international debut

After being selected for the England full-time centralised program last month, things have just got even better for our Hockey scholar, James Albery.

England Head Coach, Bobby Crutchley, recently included Albery in his 18-man squad to travel to Cape Town to face South Africa and Germany, so the NTU student looks set to make his senior international debut.

England will play South Africa twice on 2 and 6 March, plus two matches against Germany on 4 and 8 March, 2017.

Speaking of his selection, Albery commented: “I’m very excited to have been selected in the squad for the South Africa trip. I'm looking forward to getting my first senior cap!”

Albery, who is currently studying BA (Hons) Business at NTU, has been balancing his training with his studies, whilst also playing a crucial role in the Men’s Hockey 1st team fixtures.

His most recent contribution came on Wednesday 8 February, where NTU had a must-win game against Sheffield Hallam in their bid to maintain their place in BUCS North A. An unbelievable aerial from his own half to fellow scholar Chris Proctor, resulted in one of the best goals you will see, and he also scored himself.
