Our BA (Hons) International Fashion Business (one year top-up) students have recently spent an exciting four-days exploring Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen. The optional study trip was open to all students, providing them with an opportunity to experience the city’s fashion scene and gather inspiration for their dissertations.

During the trip the students had the opportunity to attend Copenhagen’s International Fashion Fair (CIFF). CIFF is the leading and most innovative platform in Northern Europe, presenting carefully curated areas for premium brands.

Student Sabrina Rosca commented: “Attending CIFF was extremely beneficial as it gave us a realistic image of how the buying process works. We saw real-life interactions between buyers, wholesalers, and other industry professionals.

“As students, we were able to ask industry professionals fashion or career-related questions. It was a great opportunity to network with buyers, photographers, and other industry professionals. This experience has allowed us to learn about new brands that we may not have been aware of, and exposed us to face-to-face interaction with their brand ambassadors, which was beneficial for primary research.”

The students also had lots of free time to explore the city and plan activities relevant to their individual dissertation topics. Many of the students took the opportunity to travel north of the city to visit one of Copenhagen’s most famous art museums, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.

Senior Lecturer Jo O'rourke commented: "Copenhagen is a fantastic trip for our International Fashion Business students as it broadens their knowledge of the retail environment. The visit to CIFF gives them exposure to how a trade show operates – a great addition to their CV!"
