Students from the BA (Hons) Photography course at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) have been part of an exhibition entitled FOCUS at Surface Gallery this February.

The group of eleven Year Two students were involved in all aspects of the exhibition at the gallery on Southwell Street in Nottingham city centre. The students managed their own involvement in the show with support from Surface Gallery volunteers, from installation through to marketing.

The selected works included both digital and analogue based practices, and explored a range of subject matters. From intimate family portraits to images that question gender stereotypes in the UK and beyond, FOCUS aimed to celebrate the quality and breadth of young photographic talent at NTU.

Exhibiting photographer and student Lucy Holland said: “Planning an exhibition as a group has been a stressful but extremely rewarding opportunity. It was great to be able to work together with other students to put on an exhibition of our work.”

She added: “Seeing your work on the walls of a gallery is such a surreal experience, and definitely made all the time spent preparing for it worth it.”

The exhibiting students were: Grace Bristo, Celeste Camilleri, Gian Castanga, Gaby Dunwell, Fiona Goldie, Sasha Gray, Lucy Holland, Jade Horberry, Jagoda Kosecka, Jodie Longdon and Dawid Rostek.
