Opened by Professor Edward Peck, an eminent Public Management Scholar in his own right, the main 2-day conference was preceded by a very successful PhD/Early Careers Researcher workshop on the 12th September.

A series of presentations from practitioners who are ‘friends and collaborators’ of NBS kicked off the conference, sparking a lively opening debate, on the theme of the conference which was ‘Joining up the Theory and Practice; Policy and Delivery in a wicked context”. Opening contributions, in addition to the VC came from Aileen Murphie (National Audit Office), Sean Nolan (Cipfa), Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Barber (Nottinghamshire Police) and Assistance Chief Fire Officer Craig Parkin (Nottinghamshire FRS).

The main conference included contributions from Angela Toothill, Stephanie Giamporcaro, Simra Chirara, Will Rossiter, Martin Jones, Don Harradine, and Pete Murphy from NBS. There was superb organisational support from Russ Glennon, Seema Edwards and Jeremy Minton and the Chairman of PAC Dr Ian Elliott was fulsome in his thanks and praise at the closing ceremony for the Nottingham Conference Centre staff, its accommodation and the catering arrangements.
