Food Banks Project is a Success
Thanks to the SCCO team, NTU staff provided donations for St Ann's and Clifton food banks.
For Green Impact in 2016/17 five university departments set out to improve their sustainability impact. Over five weeks we are bringing you the stories of their Green Impact Projects and how they made a difference. In February 2017 all NTU staff received an enews asking for your support for local Nottingham food bank stores. Shocking statistics show that in 2015/16 more than 1 million 3-day emergency food parcels were distributed to people in crisis across the 424 food banks run within the Trussell Trust network in the UK.
The Schools, Colleges and Community Outreach (SCCO) team got together and asked for staff across the institution to buy something extra in their next food shop and donate it to those who are really in need. 20 boxes, 52 carrier bags and 2 sacks were split between the St Ann’s and Clifton food banks providing the communities with healthy and wholesome meals.
Going forward the SCCO team are looking to repeat their collections throughout the year with the possibility of a toy collection at Christmas. If you are keen to propose a charity that you know is in need of donations let us know.
