To take advantage of the promotional opportunities offered by London Fashion Week, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) for the first time brought leading Hong Kong labels to one of the world’s main fashion capitals to promote the city’s design prowess.

Glori Tsui, Nottingham Trent University’s (NTU) MA Fashion Design alumna was one of four Hong Kong fashion designers to be featured.

Glori’s career took off since graduating from NTU seven years ago, when she launched her own womenswear brand, Methodology. Her brand’s first collection also happened to be her graduate collection.

She told us: “Buyers from the Hong Kong department store, Lane Crawford, saw my graduate collection and became my first stockist.”

Her Autumn/Winter 2018 Collection ‘Plaid Block’ celebrates the brand's signature silhouettes by presenting stark contrasts in plaid patterns, solid colours and layered textures, blending the models in with the surroundings and creating playful optical illusion effects.

Methodology’s designs often combine the femininity and toughness by using contrasting material, shapes and forms. Glori uses upcycled leather across her accessories collection and many of the designs are transformable, to enable the user to create a multitude of styles.

She continued: “Everything starts at NTU. If I didn’t go to NTU, I think my whole career path would have been different.”

Earlier this year, Glori also participated at London Fashion Week’s official Designer Showrooms, where she explored business, collaboration and partnership opportunities with buyers and industry players from all over the world.

In 2015, Methodology also made a debut presentation of their Spring/Summer 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week.

NTU was recently ranked in the top 10 in the UK for art and design education (Complete University Guide 2019).
