Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and Thomson Reuters have agreed to explore opportunities for collaboration, benefitting both students and staff of NTU and employees of Thomson Reuters in Nottingham.

The proposed partnership will see the two organisations provide relevant and practical skills and industry placement opportunities for NTU students, and continue the professional development of Thomson Reuters employees through training, mentorship and research programmes. Such opportunities include:

  • Teaching and Learning: providing professional acumen and insight into NTU curriculum; training in wider industry workforce skills; and participation by Thomson Reuters employees in teaching delivery
  • Research and business development: identifying potential innovative research projects; encouraging and nurturing knowledge exchange to inspire excellence in both organisations; and capturing opportunities for joint thought leadership to develop student and employee reputation in the region
  • Placements and Employment: continuing to support post-graduate progression into working life in areas like digital technology, finance and risk management; facilitate opportunities for placements, projects and cooperation programmes for NTU students, and mentorship for Thomson Reuters employees

“I am particularly pleased to be entering into this partnership between Thomson Reuters and Nottingham Trent University, said Professor Edward Peck, Vice-Chancellor of Nottingham Trent University.

“Thomson Reuters is a leading global employer entering an exciting period of transformation with a significant presence in Nottingham. This relationship allows NTU to be an important regional partner during this transformation, collaborating at both a strategic and operational level to deliver a host of opportunities and benefits to our students and graduates.”

“We are excited to be collaborating with Nottingham Trent University and I’m looking forward to this relationship being a catalyst of great opportunities for students and staff at both organisations. Thomson Reuters has been a key figure in Nottingham’s technology community for over 20 years and working with Nottingham Trent strengthens our commitment to nurturing the talent in the region,” said John Finch, chief technology officer of Thomson Reuters’ Financial & Risk division.

The partnership was agreed during a meeting which took place on 3rd May, attended by both Professor Edward Peck and John Finch, along with other senior team members of both organisations.
