Help NTU reach its blood donation target

With the end of the academic year fast approaching, time is running out to help the University meet its ambitious target for staff and students to donate 1,000 pints of blood.

NTU’s 1,000 Pint Challenge ends on 31 August and at the last update the total was 657 pints donated – 382 pints from students and 275 from staff.

Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator Louise Hamilton said: “For our students and staff to come together and collectively donate over 650 pints of blood is a fantastic achievement, but we’d love to complete the challenge and hit that 1,000 pint mark by the end of August.

“Giving blood saves lives and we’d urge all staff – whether you’ve given blood before or not – to book a session at your nearest centre. It’s a quick, simple process and NTU staff can take paid special leave of one hour per appointment* to donate.

“The blood you give is a lifeline in an emergency and for people who need long-term treatments and many people would not be alive today if donors had not generously given their blood. So do something amazing and book an appointment today.”
