The team made the short trip with hopes of picking up a third win of the season. With the game being live streamed via BUCS and a big crowd in attendance, it was all set to be a big fixture for both sides.

But it wasn’t to be, as NTU struggled to get going in large parts of the match and fell to defeat at the Rugby Rubbercrumb with the final score standing at: LOU 41-3 NTU.

NTU came into the game having already beaten Loughborough in dramatic fashion at Lady Bay in September, winning: NTU 29-27 LOU. Before kick-off, NTU sat in fifth position. With no wins from their first four games, Loughborough came in to the match hoping to claim a first victory of the season.

Good work from Loughborough within the first five minutes helped them go over, and a successful conversion left the score at: LOU 7-0 NTU.

The score was pulled closer almost immediately when Max Craven converted a penalty kick to bring the scores to: LOU 7-3 NTU.

Loughborough quickly extended the score when they converted a penalty kick with ten minutes on the clock to make it: LOU 10-3 NTU.

The lads persistently tried to apply pressure to the Loughborough defence, but the home side stood strong. With just over 20 minutes played, another Penalty kick was successfully converted for Loughborough. Another try quickly after put the score at: 20-3 NTU.

This week NTU just didn’t seem to be able to make it click on the pitch with a number of errors hampering them in the first half. More good work from the home side after a good one-handed pick up to finish a drive helped them to make it: LOU 27-3 NTU.

The match entered the halftime interval with the scores at Loughborough 27-3 NTU. The visitors had it all to do in the second half after a dominant display from the home team.

Loughborough went further ahead after strong pressure, helping them go over to make it: LOU 34-3 NTU.

With the game nearly over Loughborough grabbed one last try, after cutting through the NTU defence a good ball through helped them to finish the game at: LOU 41-3 NTU.

The result puts NTU in sixth position in the table. The team will now be returning to training working hard to prepare for their next game as they face third placed Exeter at Lady Bay.
