NTU defeated in tough Cardiff Met game

As the BUCS Super Rugby season progresses, NTU Rugby Union travelled to Cardiff Met searching for an elusive away victory.

Coming in to the game after defeat away to Exeter last Wednesday, NTU looked to pick up a win to help them move up the BUCS Super Rugby table. However, it wasn’t to be for the visitors as they lost out to a strong Cardiff met side. The final score: Cardiff Met 28-12 NTU.

Cardiff got points on the board almost immediately, as they converted a penalty in the opening two minutes of the game: Cardiff Met 3-0 NTU.

NTU went over soon after, a penalty line out helped give the visitors the lead. With seventeen minutes on the clock, Cardiff Met added another three points to pull the scores close: Cardiff Met 6-7 NTU.

The home side edged themselves in to the lead as they went over in the twenty-third minute. On the cusp of the interval, Cardiff added another try as they went over down the wing: Cardiff Met 18-7 NTU.

As the sides went in at the break, Cardiff looked set to continue their excellent home form. The score at the half: Cardiff Met 18-7 NTU.

With fifty-nine minutes on the watch, Cardiff opted to kick and converted a penalty after some dominant pack play from the home team: Cardiff Met 21-7 NTU.

Cardiff continued to push and after some good hands from the home side, they went over under the posts to get the full seven: Cardiff Met 28-7 NTU.

Refusing to go out without a fight, NTU chose a lineout over a penalty late on in the game to go over: Cardiff Met 28-12 NTU.

The final score when the full time whistle blew Cardiff Met 28-12 NTU.

The result keeps NTU eighth in the table. The lads return to training as they prepare for a big week, they face Durham in BUCS Super Rugby action next. With the match being played under the lights at Lady Bay, and live streamed via the BUCS YouTube, it is all set to be a huge match.

Make sure you are down at the Bay next week to support the lads as they look to continue their excellent home record in the league.
