The atmosphere, tension and excitement that Varsity brings all starts now. Ahead of the opening fixture, we preview everything you need to know about the Women’s match.

Form

NTU go in to the match sitting top of the BUCS North B with 19 points.  Six wins from seven games has the pinks in pole position for the league title going in to the final part of the season.

UON come in to the Varsity fixture towards the top of the table in Prem A. The team will go head to head against Loughborough next week in a bid for the league title.

When the two Varsity foes faced each other earlier in the season it finished in a 0-0 stalemate with neither side being able to put scores on the board.

What the coaches say

Asked how he is feeling about Thursday’s Varsity fixture NTU Women’s head coach Mark Wadlesy said: “The girls are looking forward to the game and the occasion. Both teams will play attacking hockey and so there will be lots of goals and individual moments of skill on show”.

With the important play-offs fast approaching, Thursday’s match is the perfect warm up opportunity for NTU.
Mark added “It's a good opportunity for us to play premiere A opposition before we prepare for the play-offs later in the season. We look forward to the challenge of playing a top team”.
