NTU fall to eighth defeat in eight games against Durham
NTU Men’s Rugby Union travelled to Durham with hopes of getting a much needed win to keep them in touching distance of fellow league strugglers Loughborough and Cardiff. However, it was not to be as a strong Durham side took the victory.

As the BUCS Super Rugby season enters its final stages, NTU Rugby Union made the trip to Durham with the aim of securing a first win since November.
Coming in to the game after a home defeat to Leeds Beckett, NTU knew they required a win to move up the BUCS Super Rugby table. But it was not to be for the men in pink after obtaining another defeat. The final score: DUR 48 – 3 NTU.
After the game, NTU remain tenth in the table. The lads go in to next week’s huge match against Cardiff University, who are in eighth place, knowing they must win to stand a chance of moving from the foot of the table.
NTU fought hard throughout the match to try to take something from the game. Unfortunately for NTU, Durham proved to be too strong for the team as they took an early lead which NTU couldn’t come back from.
The game entered halftime with the scores at DUR 24 – 3 NTU.
Despite some excellent gameplay and dedication from NTU, they just couldn’t break down the Durham defence to score any meaningful points. The final score when the whistle blew: DUR 48 – 3 NTU.
With NTU having a game in hand on both Loughborough and Cardiff, who sit ninth and eighth respectively, there is still time for the pinks to pull themselves out of the relegation spot and to safety. Next week’s fixture in Cardiff is all set to be a massive game for the team.
