The games take place in Krasnoyarsk, Russia

Among the selected, NTU students and scholars Ice Hockey player Thomas Hovell and Speed Skater Charlotte Hayward will be hoping to make their mark at the huge world event, which is expected to attract more than 100,000 spectators and have 1.5 billion TV viewers globally.

The games go ahead March 29 in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia, where temperatures regularly plummet to -30 degrees during this season.

As well as a testing climate, Thomas and Charlotte can expect some of the highest caliber competitors they’ve met so far, as the world’s best student athletes will turn out with podium position firmly in their sights.

It is a superb achievement to be selected to represent Team GB at the World University Winter Games; we all wish Charlotte and Thomas all the very best in Russia and look forward to following their progress

James Hayter - Director of Sport
